Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) is the latest and certainly greatest from the Ubuntu flavor of Linux. Shipping with Ubuntu 9.10 is a heavily modified version of the classic bootloader “GRUB“. This is honestly the only thing I find negative about Karmic, I feel that GRUB 2 is certainly a downgrade, at least from an end-user standpoint. Not only do I feel that it does not look as good, what with its solid and primitive appearance, it is incredibly more complicated to configure than the previous bootloader. Read More »
Opera is quite the cockroach of web browsers. First created in 1994 as a free alternative to the IE and Netscape giants, it is still around and kicking, it’s most recent release is Opera 10. Opera has progressed by leaps and bounds over the years, and is still coming out with new ideas and innovations. Read More »

There have been some changes and updates afoot here at Quesomanrulz Tutorials. Somewhat unsurprisingly, my parents have taken away all contact between me and my computer in an attempt to make me better concentrate on my school work. So I’m sure everyone can guess what this means…no new tutorials…from me at least. Some of my friends, being as awesome as they are, have offered to help keep things up for you guys in my partial absence. They will mostly be making tutorials and the occasional post on here, so please give them a warm welcome for helping so much. I expect great things from them as they are both very intelligent and friendly. Read More »

Previously I have explained How to Set Up Wordpress and How to Set Up phpBB on your website, today I will be showing you another CMS called MODx. The all the new MODx CMS 1.0 was released out of beta July 30, 2009. The CMS or Content Management System is very similar to Joomla! but with many more settings which makes it optimal for advanced users. The CMS would in most cases be used to create an informational style website but also has features like a blog and the ability to integrate an SMF forum. I would definately recommend it if you feel comfortable with a lot of settings and customization. At least check it out, even if you don’t want to use it now you may be interested in it in the future after it grow more.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the potential redesign that the Firefox may undergo during the 3.7 or 4.0 update. The UI appears to completely redesigned in the mock-ups posted on the Mozilla Wiki. For a quick example of what we’re talking about here is an all around picture of the basic idea of the UI:
There is also a version that features the tabs on top:
Now: my thoughts.
I have to say I have very mixed feelings about the redesign. The UI is a mix between IE8 and Chrome. Both browsers I have not been very impressed with thus far, not necessarily for design but performance reasons. But why does Mozilla want to associate their amazing browser with such ones less impressive as their own?
The bookmarks bar is not included by default in the mock-ups but it may be replaced by a bookmarks menu as shown in the tabs-on-bottom preview although not on the tabs-on-top, I feel that with this new design a bookmarks bar would clash with the rest of the design but I would be ok if the menu bar was included. If the bookmarks menu were left out that would a serious flaw in my opinion as i use the bookmarks bar everyday.
The only thing that I have to say that I completely dislike is the tabs-on-top version. I have used the Safari 4 beta and Chrome and have to say I find the idea of having the tabs on top very misguided. When I use a browser I like to have everything I use often right at hand, and obviously tabs are used most often than really anything else in the browser. Most of the time when browsing the web the mouse is within the webpage, either clicking on links or scrolling. With the tabs right above the webpage its never hard to open a new tab, its right there. With the tabs on top of the browser that means moving the mouse further to get to the tabs, and that’s it. I can see no advantage for the user to have the tabs further away, and that is something I never liked about Chrome or Safari 4 beta. Plus, I’m pretty sure Apple had a good reason for removing the tabs-on-top idea from the final version of Safari 4.
I could deal with the tabs-on-bottom version as I, of course, prefer the tabs below and I need the bookmarks menu if the bookmarks menu pulls a Houdini. At this point though, my final opinion is that if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. I love the UI the way it is, its 1/3 of the reason why I prefer Firefox over any other browser (the other two being add-ons and performance). If you guys have opinions on the idea of a Firefox redesign or how you would like it done feel free to leave a comment, all opinions will be appreciated!

On the last few of my videos you may have noticed, if you are a subscriber or regular viewer of mine, that I recently created a new style of watermark. This new watermark is more of a longer rectangular shape and contains my avatar as well as my website (http://quesomanrulz.com/). I find that I like this watermark much better as it contains information for my website and it contains my avatar which would help it gain a higher profile around the net.
In this video I’m going to be showing how to create and apply your new watermark to be like mine and we are going to do this without any other software than Camtasia Studio which you probably use anyway. So you will not have any need for other expensive software such as Sony Vegas to accomplish this task. By doing it all in Camtasia you can also reduce rendering time by only having to render once as opposed to doing it twice, first with Camtasia and then again with Vegas to get your watermark in place.
It is actually very simple to make a watermark like mine and I figured this out by myself without too much trouble. All you will need is:
If you have any questions about this tutorial you may ask questions on the forum and you will be quickly answered by one of our excellent community members.

Did you know that the average person boots up their computer 2 times a day and that the average boot time for a Windows Vista PC is 3 minutes? That means you spend 6 minutes a day waiting for your computer to boot up. That’s 36.5 hours a year, just waiting for your computer to start; A day and a half! Of course this means that if you were able to shred mere seconds off this 3 minutes you would, in the long run, save yourself enormous amounts of time.
Luckily Windows 7 itself decreases boot time also by itself as it has lower system requirements and more “thought out” registry settings. Some of us don’t want to upgrade to 7 right away (not me though) so here are a few tips that will decrease boot time in Windows Vista.
It is important to keep in mind though while completing the processes outlined in the video that first of all, I can not be responsible for anything that goes wrong while performing these tweaks. Some of the tweaks involve editing registry keys, which if done incorrectly can compromise your system. Another thing to keep in mind is that results may very, if your system is already fast this won’t necessarily make it faster but if its slow you have a better chance at increasing the time, but again this can not be guaranteed. All of these tweaks however have been proven to make a difference in certain situations so they are recommended.

How to Create a Contact Form for Your Website
Something I feel that every blog should have is a contact form so that readers can contact the writers with comments, or depending on the content of the blog, other things like questions, submitted content, or website bugs. Well, creating a contact form by yourself by just coding is a quite advanced procedure. Luckily there are several services around the internet that are willing to do this service for free. Today we will be using emailmeform.com as it allows you to have the most features for free compared to any other website who has a similar service. I will walk you through the simple process of creating your own custom contact form and then tell you how to apply it to your website. Good Luck, if you have questions about your contact form you can always ask out community at http://forum.quesomanrulz.com/.
