switcher Exposé for Windows Switcher

One of the greatest features of OS X that is missing an alternative in Windows is the Exposé feature. Have you ever heard of vBulletin? It’s considered one of the best CMS’s in existance but it is very expensive. Now, however, it has a competitor! Simple Machines has released a release candidate of the 2.0 version of their forum. In design it is very similar to vBulletin, you can create home pages as well as forums inside the same CMS. It is loaded with settings and is really customizable. Oh, and did I mention that it’s FREE! You should definately check this out if you like lots of settings and customization or if you were considering buying vBulletin.

modxcms bookPreviously I have explained How to Set Up Wordpress and How to Set Up phpBB on your website, today I will be showing you another CMS called MODx. The all the new MODx CMS 1.0 was released out of beta July 30, 2009. The CMS or Content Management System is very similar to Joomla! but with many more settings which makes it optimal for advanced users. The CMS would in most cases be used to create an informational style website but also has features like a blog and the ability to integrate an SMF forum. I would definately recommend it if you feel comfortable with a lot of settings and customization. At least check it out, even if you don’t want to use it now you may be interested in it in the future after it grow more.
